Govt hikes import duty on palm oils
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the
Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it
is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further
amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of
Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 21/2002-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2002,
namely :-
In the said notification, in the Table, -
(i) against S. No. 29, for the entry in column (3), the entry “Edible oils
falling under headings 1508, 1512, 1513, 1514 or 1515 or sub-heading 1511 10”
shall be substituted;
(ii) against S. No. 31, for the entry in column (3), the entry “Refined
vegetable oils of edible grade, in loose or bulk form (other than those falling
under heading 1511)” shall be substituted;
(iii) against S. No. 32, in the entry in column (3), for the words and figure
“other than those specified against S. No. 31 above”, the words, figures and
brackets “(other than those specified against S. No. 31 above and those falling
under heading 1511)” shall be substituted;
(iv) against S. No. 34, in column (3), against items (A), (B) and (C), for the
entries in column (4), the entry “80%” shall respectively be substituted; and
(v) against S. No. 434, for the entry in column (4), the entry “90%” shall be
substituted.

Note:- The principal notification No.21/2002-Customs dated the dated the 1st
March, 2002, was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide
G.S.R.118 (E), dated the 1st March, 2002and was last amended by notification
No.7/2005-Customs, dated the 4th February, 2005 [G.S.R. 59 (E), dated the 4th
February, 2005].
