Subject :-    Duty Drawback on Exports-Revision of All -Industry Rates of Drawback regarding.

        On the various representations from Export Promotion Councils, the Government has decided to restore the old rates of Drawaback in respect of Knitwrars, Garments and Made-ups covered under Serial/ Sub-Serial Nos. 52.03, 60.02, 61.01, 61,02, 62.02, 62.11, 63.61, 63.09 and 63.11 of the Drawback Table 97-98 fixed vide Ministry's Notification No. 22/ 97-Cus (NT) dated 30.5.97. These old rates of Drawback have been restored w.e.f. 17.10.1997 vide Notification No. 53/97-Cus (N.T) dated 17.10. 97, upto 31st December, 1997 (copy cenclosed). Revised/ restored rates of Drawback effective from 17.10.1997 will remain in force till 31.12.1997 and a separate notification providing for the implementation of revised rates of drawback with effect from 1.1.1998, as fixed vide Notification No. 39/97-Cus (NT) dated 10.9.1997, shall be issued separately in due course.

2.    With the restoration of old rates of Drawback w.e.f. 17.10.97, there may be case where the exporters are entitled for the higher rates of Drawback and would file Supplementary claims for the export covered under the above mentioned Serial/sub-serial number. In such cases, the exporters may be allowed to file their Supplementary claims of Drawback in accordance with the provisions of Rule 15 of the Customs and Central Excise Drawback Rules, 1995 (as amended).
